STEPHEN TAYLOR
Stephen Taylor has produced, directed, and edited a large number of short films and multimedia projects, including several award-winning documentaries. He has collaborated with or made films about young composers and performers such as Judd Greenstein, David T. Little, William Brittelle, Darcy James Argue, Tristan Perich, Dan Deacon, So Percussion, James Moore, Kathy Supove, Merrill Garbus, Shara Worden, and Missy Mazzoli. In 2007, he directed the documentary, THE END OF NEW MUSIC, about a group of young composers and performers at the forefront of New York City's emerging indie-classical music scene. Currently he is producing films for the full-length opera, Song From the Uproar, in collaboration with composer Missy Mazzoli, librettist Royce Vavrek, and stage director Gia Forakis. He is also working for the Ecstatic Music Festival, producing documentary profiles of the composers and performers participating in the festival.
Mr. Taylor studied at the Center for Documentary Studies, and was a resident at the Blue Mountain Center in 2008. He is presently pursuing a master's degree in Media studies at the New School and currently works and resides in Brooklyn, NY.
